MARRIAGE CHRISTIAN COUNSELING
Like most things in life, marriage has its ups and downs. No matter how long you’ve been together, your relationship is likely to experience rocky terrain at some point. Marriages can be challenged by a variety of factors, such as financial difficulties, lack of intimacy, illness, an unbalanced relationship, or unspoken resentment. Perhaps there have been instances of substance abuse, pornography, infidelity, or dishonest behavior that have caused feelings of anger, frustration, or disappointment towards your partner.
Whatever issues your marriage is facing — whether you’re feeling unhappy, disconnected, or even lonely in your marriage — you deserve the benefits of professional help. Our Christian marriage counseling helps by providing you and your spouse a safe space to build a happier and healthier relationship. By creating a safe space and providing the right tools, a marriage counselor can facilitate positive change in both you and your partner to help strengthen your marriage. Christ centered marriage counseling pre marriage counseling.
Finding Freedom from destructive behaviors:
There are identifiable reasons why people exhibit destructive behavior, and in many cases, these reasons were instigated by loved ones, family members, and their surrounding community as a whole. These, left undealt with, can and will destroy that person’s life as well those around them. Emotional healing can be a painful process but necessary and requires the uncovering and properly processing the problems at root level. These can be intentional or unintentional contributors such as abandonment, a parent’s death, a divorce, an emotionally absent parent or parents, an alcoholic parent or parents, physical abuse, sexual abuse, religious abuse, bullying and many others. These wounds typically go unnoticed until they begin to surface as unhealthy behavior in their own life. They can manifest as, but not necessarily, the same type of behaviors that were bestowed upon them.
Emotional strongholds are not necessarily bad, but unhealthy strongholds are typically unhealthy connections between a person’s feelings and faulty beliefs. In reality, what we believe eventually affects how we think, feel and act. If we are acting in ways that are causing problems, we must locate the faulty belief that led us there.
A soul tie can be good when it is with someone we should be connected to such as a spouse or other family members, etc. But it is not healthy to be connected to and dragging around the souls of people from previous relationships. Anytime soul or sexually intimacy takes place outside of God’s plan, it moves the relationship from being connected, to being chained to that soul. Our Lord says the two become one and unhealthy soul ties have a tendency to get in the way and hinder healthy connections moving forward.
There is only One who knows exactly what went wrong and He must be included in the center of the healing process. Our Lord walks hand-in-hand with us into those places of brokenness, sheds light on what happened, and allows us to feel the necessary sadness and pain as He comforts and brings us through the healing process to a place of sincere forgiveness, healing and freedom.
One of the most important benefits of Jesus’ death and departure from this world (besides the gift of eternal life with Him) was to provide a personal Helper for all those who love Him to victoriously transition through this sick and dying world. All the attributes of Jesus are available to those who are empowered by the Holy Spirit, and the Great Commission tells us that He expects us to represent Him in this world. It is His desire to live in, and work through each of us. Jesus said before His departure:
“Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.”
(John 16:7) NKJ
We have been commissioned! Jesus gave specific direction to all who would believe, trust, and follow Him. Before He departed, He simply laid it out initially by being an example, and then through a command. His words were as follows:
“Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
(Matt. 28:18-20 NIV)
The Holy Spirit moves us from a condition of powerless, helpless, and hopeless to having all the His power available to fulfill the mission He placed within us. As we walk closely with Him, we have everything we need to experience victory. Jesus literally said we will do even greater things than He did and expects us to.
“”Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.
(John 14:12-14 NIV)
(Acts 1:8 NIV)
The Great Physician, Jehovah Rapha, our God who heals delivers through the power of the Holy Spirit, so every Christian has Jesus’ healing power readily available living within.
“Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven.”
(James 5:14-15)
“Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.”
(James 5:16)
Jesus, the One that is all powerful, all knowing, and everywhere works through His Spirit and is the only One able to successfully lead, guide, and protect.
“But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the Law.”
(Gal. 5:18)
“For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.”
(Romans 8:14)
“If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit.”
(Gal. 5:25)
In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words; and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.
(Romans 8:26-27)
“But when they hand you over, do not worry about how or what you are to say; for it will be given you in that hour what you are to say. For it is not you who speak, but it is the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you.”
(Matt. 10:19-20)
